LCI Clippers are 4A Provincial Champions!
The Lethbridge Collegiate Institute Clippers volleyball team took home the 4A provincial title Saturday with a win over Lindsay Thurber.
The No. 3 seed going into the weekend, LCI took on Salisbury Composite in pool play to kick things off Thursday, and emerged with a three-set win.LCI then fell to Thurber in three sets, and bounced back to defeat William Aberhart later in the day, in a match that also went the full three sets.
On Friday, LCI battled Western Canada in the quarterfinal, and emerged with the victory.
That set up a semifinal showdown with Aberhart, as the Clippers once again took the win.LCI then went on to top Thurber in the championship match. Salisbury took the bronze with a victory over Aberhart.
The Rams won Thursday’s opening match against Jasper Place, defeated Strathcona in the next match and then earned a victory over Charles Spencer.In the playoffs, LCI fell to All Saints in the quarterfinal, then dropped matches against Paul Kane and Catholic Central.Thurber went on to win the gold with a win in the championship game over Aberhart, while Jasper Place took bronze.
