Time: All Day
It is mandated by Alberta Education that parents complete/update their child’s registration package every school year. All returning students, as well as all of the new grade 9 students will need their registration updated via PowerSchool. Parents will need to log into their Parent PowerSchool accounts and follow the instructions that will be sent to them to update their child’s registration. This must be done for each child that you have enrolled in school. This year, PowerSchool will be open for Parent Registration updates from March 11th to March 25th. Please ensure that you have logged in and updated your registration in PowerSchool on or before March 25th.
Time: All Day
This is the last day for students to log into PowerSchool and select the courses that they are requesting to take for next school year. Any student who has not selected courses by this deadline runs the risk of not getting a timetable created for them, and will be VERY limited in the course selections open to them if and when they try to request courses after the other 1600 students have already been placed. Please remind and double check that all students have made their course requests before the end of the day.
Time: 10:20 am - 10:35 am
This is the last of a 5 week advisor lesson. This lesson will layout what LCI is going to do with the course requests and why it is so important to get those course requests in on time. It will also lay out when students can expect to see their 2025/2026 timetable. Lastly, it will discuss the final recourse to get any timetable changes made, when that deadline will be, and when we will no longer be making timetable changes.
Time:
7:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Location: 230-8 St. S in the Casa Community Room
The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit is welcoming parents/guardians/caregivers to attend an evening information session on the realities of internet child exploitation in Alberta, and strategies to navigate these issues in an open and collaborative way with children.
The event will take place on March 27 at 7 p.m., inside the Casa Community Room at 230-8 St. S.

Next school years timetables will be handed out to students in advisor class
Time: 8:00 am - 9:00 pm
Each year, LCI does everything it can to accommodate student requests for timetable changes. This includes trying to match students with teachers and move spares to their most advantageous times, all while ensuring students are getting the courses and credits they need.
However, we have over 1,600 students starting the school year with us. That means that students will also have to be flexible with the timetables that they require.
Please Note - This year, PowerSchool will open on Tuesday May 27th at 10:30 am for students to see their initial timetable. Timetable change requests can begin after 10:30 am on that day. Please look at the master schedule which will be posted below the day before (Monday, May 26th)
Here is what you need to know when making their timetable change requests:
-All timetable change requests will be done via TEAMS. Students should message their NEXT YEAR’S grade level administrator on TEAMS to make their request.
Grade 10 – Kyle McKenzie
Grade 11 – Katrina Van Der Meer
Grade 12 – Annett Fox Bruised Head
-Grade 9 course schedules will not be released until the 1st day of school next fall. With that said, grade 9 classes do not flex as class lists are set by teachers in advance and classes move as a cohort. Grade 9 option changes follow a different procedure which be laid out by Gordon Vatcher (Grade 9 Admin) directly to students in the fall.
-Be very specific with your timetable change requests. The more you tell us, the better we can do to help you when we get to your request. Tell us exactly what courses and in which blocks you want to add/drop courses. If you can… tell us what your priority changes are, and which ones you can live without. It would not be good use of your initial message to be “Can I make some changes? “ or “What other course could I take?”. Have a clear plan, and even better, lay out in your message each semester block-by-block outline the courses you wanted added/dropped.
-Please look on the master schedule that will be posted on the main LCI webpage on Monday, May 26th. This will allow you to look and see what changes are possible and which ones are not before messaging in with your request(s).
-DO NOT message in before 10:30 am on Tuesday May 27th. Any messages sent in prior to that time will not be addressed. Wait until you see your timetable in PowerSchool.
-Please be patient with us. Some grade levels have almost 500 students. This means that it may take days, not hours to get to your request. If you re-message just to “check in”, your TEMAS message gets moved back to the end of the que and will further delay how quickly we get to it.
-Please be selective in your requests. If you have all of the courses you need. Please ask yourself how necessary is your course request. With over 1,600 students it will be impossible to make every change that everyone asks for.
Again, the admin team at LCI strives to do its best to get every student their most optimum timetable. We want students to be with the right teachers, peers, and have the right timetable that will optimize their success. Please work with us and be willing to be flexible as we work through your requests.

Entering grade 10 means entering school with a whole new set of rules to navigate. Many things change once a student enters grade 10 including credit counts, prerequisites, course streaming, etc. To help allow students and parents to be proactive, LCI offers a Parent Information Night specifically geared toward students entering grade 10. This evening does NOT focus on options classes or what high school life is like. Instead, it focuses on the pivotal information students need to navigate their way to graduation. If you have a child entering grade 10, we would strongly encourage you to attend the Next Year’s Grade 10’s Parent Orientation Meeting at 7:30 pm on Tuesday March 11th
