World-renowned dance instructor works with LCI Arts Academy students
Last week, Lethbridge Collegiate Institute Arts Academy dance program students had the opportunity to work with Allen Kaeja from Kaeja D'dance.
Kaeja taught a workshop and choreographed a piece with the students, a piece which will appear in the upcoming dance show.
LCI dance teacher Geordan Olson was a student of Kaeja’s at Ryerson University, and after university, the Olson commissioned Kaeja to work with a youth company she had.
Kaeja is world renowned and works all over the world, creating dance commissions for large international companies.
“It's incredible to have him here in Lethbridge and working with the students of LCI,” said Olson. "The last time I worked with Allen was in Toronto. He choreographed a piece for the company I co-created and danced in called Alias Dance Project."
LCI’s dance show is set for May 15-16 at Casa in the community room. This is the inaugural year of the LCI dance academy program, and the LCI Arts Academy in general, and the show will help culminate this first year.
The show will include an incredible line-up of guest choreographers, the most well known being Kaeja.
