COMMUNICATION TECH 1D
(6 Credits) GRAPHICS/PHOTOGRAPHY

Visual Communication 10 is designed to help students plan, design, prepare and produce graphic messages. This course offers a variety of interesting experiences in layout, printing and photography that will contribute to future achievement in a wide range of graphic arts careers or hobbies. Students learn to operate equipment like computer desktop publishing, photography (basic and intermediate skills) making projects for their own use and in the photography units make print enlargements from negatives they have developed after photographing subjects with 35mm cameras.

 
 

COMMUNICATION TECH 1D
(6 Credits) TELEVISION COMMUNICATIONS


This class is an exciting look into the world of television where students will learn the basics of television arts. Camera management, editing, principles of lighting and sound as well as critical analysis of television programming are a few of the areas covered in this project based class. Students will be expected to complete television programs by the end of the semester.This class is the prerequisite to advanced television classes that are scheduled for upcoming semesters. Students may earn up to 6 credits in this class and students completing advanced television arts programs will be given advanced placement by LC.

 
 

COMMUNICATION TECH 2D
(6 CREDITS) TELEVISION COMMUNICATIONS

A continuation from Comm Tech TV 1D, this course offers more hands on and practical experience in the world of television. Students are expected to complete classroom studies and a practicum with Shaw Cable. All class assignments relate to the creation of television programs and the techniques used in their creation.

 
 

COMMUNICATION TECH 2D
(6 Credits) VIS COMM

Visual Communications 20 provides the student with an opportunity of in depth study in the areas of desktop publishing, script writing and video production. Students will develop and produce printed and video productions for their own use and for use throughout the school. About 80% of the class time is spent working on projects, learning the skills required in the printing and video industries.

 
 

COMMUNICATION TECH 3D
(6 Credits) VIS COMM

This course provides the student with an opportunity to study and work with digital imagery, digital video, digital editing, advance script writing and animation. All of this work is done with the assistance of the computer. About 80% of class time is spent in working on projects, learning the skills required in the image processing industry.
