Our Certified Instructor will train you in every detail of collision repair, surface preparation, basic dent repair, MIG, plasma and oxy-acetylene welding and cutting, plastic component repair, detailing, custom painting, and the ins and outs of auto body construction.
The LCI Auto Collision program has advanced equipment and tools, new hoists, a urethane waterborne base/clear/tri coat paint system, HVLP/RP gravity-feed spray guns, and air brushes for the specialized skills to custom paint and do graphics. Autobody Program - Recreational and Sports Equipment Maintenance 10
(6 Credits) (No Prerequisite)
If your interests lie mainly in recreation and sports activities, and if you have the desire to maintain, repair and detail your own equipment, this course may be a good choice for you. This new course introduces students to the maintenance, adjustments, tune-up and repairing of many types of recreational equipment. The emphasis is a “hands-on” environment to have students work on their on equipment. Mountain and BMX bikes, snowboards and skis, golf equipment, and all types of helmets will be just some of the items that students will be allowed to work on. Students will have the opportunity to acquire skills in MIG, plasma, oxy-acetylene welding. Surface preparation, paint refinishing and many types of specialty and custom painting will be introduced to students. Students are required to bring in their own projects to work on. LCI’s Auto Collision facility has a certified instructor and all the up-to-date tools and equipment for students to use while in the Recreation and Sports Equipment program. This class is intended for girls and boys and they will gain valuable skills and experience and have a lot of fun.
Auto Collision Repair & Refinishing 10
This course offers first year Auto Collision students an opportunity to combine theory and practical hands-on experience in minor Autobody repair and maintenance. Students are introduced to M.I.G., Plasma, Oxy-Acetylene welding and cutting. Students will gain experience in minor Sheet metal repair, Surface preparation, Refinishing, Spray painting, Speciality and Custom painting.
Auto Collision Repair & Refinishing 20
This course offers second year Auto Collision students an opportunity to experience basic Autobody repair. The LCI’s hands-on Auto Collision Lab provides students a modern facility to repair and maintain their own vehicles as well as other projects that require repairs, refinishing and spray painting, vehicle detailing and touch-up. Students will gain experience in the fundamentals of Sheet metal, Fibreglass, and Plastic repair. The emphasis of Auto Collision 20 is for the students to perform a basic spray-painting repair using the Water-borne Urethane Basecoat/Clearcoat two-stage/tri-coat paint system.
Auto Collision Repair & Refinishing 30
This course offers third year auto collision students a wide variety of experiences in the trade of Auto Collision Repair and Refinishing. The students will be allowed to expand on previously learned skills and introduces them to advanced body repair techniques, panel replacement, and spray-painting methods. In Auto Collision 30, the students are allowed to repair collision damage and can perform a complete paint job using the new Water-borne Urethane Paint System. Glass removal and installation and Damage Repair Estimation are is also part of the course content.
Auto Collision Independent Study
The last class of Auto Collision is open to students who have excelled in the previous courses. The students must be highly motivated and to be able to work well independently. Applicants must be accepted into the program following an interview with the instructor. Students will be given time to improve their skills to further prepare them for entry in the apprenticeship program. At the completion of the Auto collision program, students can be given credit towards the Auto Collision Repair and Refinishing Trade.
